Nowadays, modern scientific advances nowadays make our lives easier, faster and more comfortable. As we take a look at the past, we can see how different life has become now. Amazing as it can be, we first started with Alexander Graham Bell’s first practical telephone then the current techie mobile phones which is now enjoying its fast turnover of various models from time to time in the market; Henry Ford’s 20th century Model T car to modern space rockets and submarines and herbal medicines to refined medicines. These are the evolutions of Science that definitely have improved our lives. Without science and the great minds of inventors, cool, easy and techie life would not be possible.

In order to commemorate the wondrous advances of science and technology, Childlink Learning Center celebrated its annual “Science Week” last November 16-20, 2009. The said celebration has lined up fun-filled activities as well as a chance to learn additional scientific facts. To start with, every morning right after the flag ceremony, science trivia questions were thrown to the students to answer.  Environmental awareness was the theme on the second day in which the Linkers did tree planting. The culmination of the week’s event were the actual experiments which the graders and high school students did from their group research. Winners were announced a week after. The significance of the activity was, it opened our minds to wonderful possibilities and milestones of Science. From my point of view, great scientific developments are the products of great minds and good purpose of people that will surely lead our world to a better future.
