A Leadership Experience

By: Joseph Wilson Jayme

The student council officers, class presidents and vice-presidents had a Leadership Enhancement Seminar Workshop last July 12, 2008. There were lots of challenging and mind twisting activities with insightful facts that were done on this day.

We learned that Leaders are not born but made and not just made overnight. Leadership is a must. If not, there are no leaders, there will be chaos. We realized this through the visual presentations and that even animals have leaders!

The first activity was about TEAMWORK. Reinart Justin Bacalso’s group won in the activity of transporting a softdrink crown using only pieces of sewing thread. Reinart together with James led their group not just using their leadership skills but wits. A leader knows the way, shows the way and goes the way.

Everyone enjoyed the incredible snacks entitled, “IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO”. We had partners and one of us was blindfolded and the other one was disabled. We needed to work together to taste the delicious foods. The value of sharing was emphasized too for all the snacks were collected to be shared to everyone. Good for those who did not bring one.

The real challenge was the AMAZING TREASURE HUNT. We were divided into two groups. Each group needs to pass the challenges of RESOURCEFULNESS, CREATIVITY, COMMUNICATION, TEAMWORK and PERSISTENCE.  It was Ruel Jan Anthony Moldez’s group who made it first. The treasure was a ballpen. Whew! All the hardwork with just a ballpen? Well, the real treasures are the memories, learnings and good values we have that we will keep and use for a lifetime.

There is one thing the leadership training seminar implied that Linkers are Leaders.
