Alyannah Jiao Won in Swimming Competition

STAR STUDENT

INTERVIEW WITH THE BEST SWIMMER

By: Caryssa Versoza

Last May 2008 at Cebu City Sports, Alyannah Isabelle Jiao was awarded as the most bemedalled in the Novice Interschool Swimming Competition under the banner of Childlink Team with the support of Coach Antonio Rafanan.

Here is an interview conversation with the victor.

At what age did you start being serious with swimming?

I started swimming when I was 6 years old. I love the sport and my mom enrolled me for the training. Good for me my prayer was answered at that time.

What were your preparations before the contest?

Actually, the contest was announced days before the competition. But, there was no worry for I have my consistent swimming lessons and trainings every Saturday morning in Cebu City Sports. I was also supported both by my mom and dad.

How was your experience during the competition?

I was a bit nervous because I do not know the people around me and my co-swimmers. It was my first time to join a swimming competition. I just did my best.

What did you win during the activity?

I won as the Best in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly. I never expected it and I was surprised. I was really happy that my practices were not a waste.

What can you say to others who want to succeed like you?

Work hard and keep on practicing and trying. Do not give up.
